Winnebago Area Literacy Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We have been actively serving our community since 1989, providing quality literacy instruction and programs to hundreds of community members. Our dedicated volunteers have donated thousands of hours of their time to help learners improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Life conditions improve, and families become more self-sufficient and more engaged in our community. Our learners set their own goals to meet their own unique needs, and they are equal partners in designing their learner plans. Because our teachers and volunteers are fully engaged and use our learner-centered approach, working with our learners is a highly rewarding experience. They consistently report how much richer their lives are because of the work they do at WALC!
